Gboard’s Material You replace is beginning to roll out

Gboard’s newest server-side replace brings a brand new aesthetic that follows Android’s new ‘Material You’ design components.

Last week, Google unveiled Android 12’s Material You that focuses on rounded shapes and a method that matches your wallpaper. Google says that Material You will make its solution to its apps, and Gboard is only one of them. This newest server-side replace can also be coming in two completely different designs.

The first swaps out the ‘Enter’ and ‘123’ buttons on Gboard with a extra rounded design. Whereas the opposite design noticed by Android Police additionally rounds out the Gboard spacebar.

The rollout doesn’t appear solely restricted to units working the Android 12 beta, because the latter design was discovered on a ZenFone 8 working Android 11.

This change was initially noticed in an APK by 9to5Google and Android Police, however it now appears to be coming to fruition. Similar to different apps that help Material You, the keyboard will even match your wallpaper.
