Speaking to Polish outlet Spider’s Web, Nick Maguire, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice chairman of worldwide providers, confirmed that the check is “currently focusing only on the Polish market” till April twenty second, 2022.

“We want to see how players will benefit from such a service. What titles do they watch, what do they care about, how often do they use them,” he defined. “At this stage, however, I cannot say whether it will be created and what the test process will look like for other markets, as well as what the future is for PlayStation Plus Video Pass after the test period.”

As for why Poland was chosen, Maguire stated it was the “perfect market” as a result of “a large base of players [there] who stand out due to their commitment and activity in the network and social media.”

Given all of that, it stays to be seen whether or not Video Pass will ever come to Canada. Even if it did, nevertheless, it’s essential to notice that {the catalogue} would virtually actually look completely different right here as a result of rights points. That’s as a result of Sony solely distributes these movies in worldwide markets; movies like Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 are dealt with in North America by Paramount and Warner Bros., respectively.

That stated, movies like VenomZombieland 2: Double Tap and Baby Driver are distributed by Sony worldwide, so these would presumably be included in a Canadian model of Video Pass, barring any licensing conflicts.

For now, although, Canadians can hire and buy films and exhibits from the PlayStation Store till August 1st. Beyond that, the PS4 and PS5 provide entry to a number of streaming providers, together with Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Crave.
