Koodo is rising the month-to-month value of some legacy plans by $5

Telus flanker model Koodo is elevating costs for a “small number” of shoppers on “select legacy rate plans.”

Although the rise comes concurrently a number of plan modifications — which went stay on the service’s web site on February twenty third — Koodo says the legacy value improve isn’t associated. The service modified its plans to supply province-wide calling, with Canada-wide calling out there as a $5 add-on. That change impacts new subscribers or clients who change their plans to one of many new choices. At the time, Koodo mentioned that the plan modifications wouldn’t have an effect on present clients.

Shortly after MobileSyrup broke that story, a couple of readers commented about seeing $5 will increase on their payments and forwarded emails in regards to the will increase to me. I reached out to Koodo for extra info.

In a press release to MobileSyrup, the service confirmed the value change. In February, clients with the choose legacy charge plans will see a $5 improve on their invoice. Koodo says it let clients know in January.

You can learn Koodo’s full assertion beneath:

“In January, we contacted a small number of Koodo customers on select legacy rate plans to inform them that they would see a $5 increase on their next billing cycle, beginning in February. We do not take the decision to increase the cost of services lightly and recognize this increase has an impact on our customers. Of note, affected customers may choose to take advantage of any of our in-market plans, all on Canada’s largest and fastest network coast to coast.”

The improve isn’t straight associated to Koodo’s new plans, regardless of the 2 modifications taking place across the similar time. Further, clients who don’t have the impacted legacy plans gained’t see a rise.

However, the 2 modifications taking place collectively will possible go away many purchasers annoyed. People on legacy plans seeing their month-to-month invoice improve might want to select between paying the additional $5 per 30 days or switching. If they determine to stick with Koodo, they’ll have to select from new plans that not embody Canada-wide calling. Alternatively, they will leap to a special service, though that could value them a $45 connection payment.
